COLUMBIA, Mo. — Heading into the spring planting season, Missouri farmers need to be aware of changes tied to restricted use pesticides.
The federal Environmental Protection Agency, with the Missouri Department of Agriculture as the lead agency in Missouri, set the new requirements affecting some 18,000 licensed applicators across the state.
“The Missouri Department of Agriculture worked with Extension to meet the changes and develop programs to satisfy the federal requirements with the least indigestion on the part of our producers,” said Rusty Lee, University of Missouri Extension’s statewide private pesticide applicator training coordinator. “It has been a while since there was this much sweeping change.”
