EPA Warns Against Drones to Spray Disinfectants and Fight COVID-19

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns against the use of drones, fogging, fumigation, and electrostatic spraying to apply disinfectants to help fight COVID-19, unless the product’s label provides specific instruction in how to do so, according to a recent post on the agency’s website.

The EPA says that it has not yet evaluated the safety and efficiency of any disinfectant being used in this way, unless it specifically says so on the product label. Although the agency admits that it’s still working through applications to add directions for using electrostatic sprayers to apply products that help kill COVID-19.
